SLOPE
Structured Light Observation Perception and Evaluation device

SLOPE
SLOPE is a simple and quick tool using a unique structured light to assess the health of the macula. This is done through a rapid and accurate perception task performed by patients using our novel quantum technology.
This technology allows for the early detection of macular degeneration, a disease which can only be detected at a later stage with current diagnostic tools. SLOPE goes hand-in-hand with currently available eye treatments to help prevent age-related vision loss and blindness.

The Problem
Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD)
AMD occurs primarily in individuals over the age of 60. Characterized by the gradual deterioration of the macula, it can lead to a loss of central vision and difficulty with tasks like reading and recognizing faces.
-
Leading cause of irreversible blindness globally
-
More than 200 million patients with AMD worldwide
-
No current device for screening and early diagnosis of AMD
-
Due to later diagnosis, there is no effective treatment options

Here's where SLOPE fits
Introducing the first and only early screening optometric device for macular degeneration. Through a simple perception test, SLOPE can screen healthy and non-healthy retina. See details below.
How SLOPE works
Structured light is a unique beam generated by SLOPE is tailored to match the symmetry of the macular fibres. It interacts with the retina to induce an entoptic pattern.
Healthy Macula

Easy Perception
Early AMD

Difficult Perception
Moderate AMD

Simple perception task: Identify direction of rotation of the entoptic pattern
Results: SLOPE outputs a single value indicating retinal health
Easily categorize healthy and unhealthy retina based on thresholds

Why SLOPE
Easy to Use
No medical training is required to perform the SL perception task
Compact
Portable SLOPE can be placed in pre-examination area or GP’s room
Fast
No pupil dilation is required. Standard protocol timing is less than 5 minutes
Repeatable
Proven test re-test reliability with >90% accuracy
